Tonight KIERAN HEBDEN (AKA FOUR TET) and veteran jazz drummer STEVE REID promote their new album ‘The Exchange Session: Vol 1’ on Domino Records.
Steve Reid is the legendary drummer who in 1964 at 19 years of age played on Martha Reeves & the Vandellas’ ‘Dancing In The Street’, and subsequently went on to play with Miles Davis, Fela Kuti and James Brown (think about that for a moment), not to mention Fats Domino, Sun Ra, Peggy Lee, Chaka Khan, Dexter Gordon, Dionne Warwick and many, many more. Their unique live show blends Kieran's electronic experimentation with Steve Reid's laid back yet complex driving polyrhythms.

SIX ORGANS OF ADMITTANCE featuring Ben Chasny of Comets On Fire, free jazz sensation Chris Corsano on drums and John Moloney of Sunburned Hand of the Man on Guitar and Percussion deliver a live set of atmospheric, ethereal avant-folk as they spectacular merge dreamy hypnotic, finger picked melodies, murmured vocals and pyshedelia concrete, with some very fine fuzz guitar and skittering percussion...

THE THING mixes the ecstasy of free jazz with the intensity of garage rock as the trio play compositions by James Blood Ulmer, Frank Lowe, PJ Harvey, White Stripes and Joe McPhee.

The Thing are Mats Gustafsson, who is today Sweden's and one of Europe's biggest name on the free music scene. Through groups like Gush, Peter Brötzmann`s Chicago Tentet and collaborations with Sonic Youth and David Grubbs, he has established himself as a very powerful saxophonist, and has somewhat reinvented the way of playing the saxophone. Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and Paal Nilssen-Love have become known as Norway`s heaviest rhythm-section. Since they`re long time collaboration started in 1992, they have been working in several groups which today also includes School Days with Ken Vandermark, Scorch trio with Raoul Björkenheim, and the Swedish/Norwegian jazz-group Atomic.

“The Thing convert nouveau punk and vintage garage rock into a roaring scream-up, but the sheer energy and love of the music keep gimmickry at bay” Uncut

“The Thing have better taste, more talent and the sense of the absurd of true artists, rather than the frat-house sense of humour of musician nerds.” Sunday Times

“A sonic mess that is never the less enjoyable brainfood” The Independent

“Tapping into rock’s most primal forces with a fire and fury that’s something to behold” Mojo
